What About…

What should I wear to my appointment?

You can wear casual dress to your appointment; however, clothing isn’t a real concern since you’ll disrobe either completely or to your briefs—you’ll be covered by a sheet during the massage.

What should I expect during my massage?

You must complete the confidential medical history form before your first massage session. I review this with you and help you identify the type of massage and your goals for the session. I’ll show you the therapy room; you’ll disrobe and lay on the table after I’ve left the room. While lying on the table, you’ll be covered at all times except for the area being massaged. The table is heated, lighting is dim, and relaxation music aids in the total relaxation of mind and body. I’ll let you know when to turn over, maintaining your privacy. When the session is finished, I’ll let you know, turn up the light for you, and leave the room to allow you to dress. After your session, we will discuss the session and I’ll answer your questions.

How do I know which massage would be best for me?

I consult with you about your goals for the session and likes/dislikes regarding massage at each visit in order to determine which techniques to use.

What if I’m cold or hot, or the pressure is too much or too little?

Talk to me. Let me know immediately of anything that bothers or distracts you.

Are you certified?

Yes. I’m nationally certified and licensed by the Virginia Board of Nursing. I am also current with all required continuing education classes.

Thank you!
